Who is Flavien ‘Mambo’ Demarigny ?

Born in Chile in 1969 from a French father and an Hungarian mother, Flavien/Mambo grew up in Latin America before moving to Paris, then Los Angeles and now resides in Provence. Since his career began in the mid eighties, Mambo’s artworks have been links between modern, contemporary, minimalist and graffiti art to create a praxis and style of his own. Ranging from semi-abstract graphic interplays of lines and spontaneous designs, to abstract action painting, and his signature red-orange portraits. Mambo’s artistic career has developed four main series: Strokes, Brainology, Mindscapes, and Humans

Able to pick what style or discipline is necessary to express his feelings in the moment his artworks display an expressive graphic universe full of underlying meanings; combining observation, ambiguity and humor.  But with every artwork Mambo creates, humanity remains the core theme; inspired by the brain and its mental processes, sensations, emotions, memories, inner feelings and mechanical reactions. Human behaviors become colorful ideograms, our environment becomes a dictionary, where Mambo picks symbols to write his own prose: visual enigmas, combining intuition and maitrise.
