Mambo x Le Louvre
In 2020, Mambo created a capsule collection for Le Louvre Museum, based on his revisited Monalisa, that he likes to call the Mambolisa.
It is important to remind that, in the mid eighties, before I. Ming Pei’s Glass Pyramid was built, archeological excavations were made on the site, surrounded by wood fences, where Mambo did some of his first graffiti pieces. He even befriended with archeologists working on the grounds. Mambo’s career has always been about building bridges in between styles, eras, audiences. The opportunity to create such collection was long awaited for an artist like him. Mambo chose to leave aside Monalisa’s smile and decided to focus on her eyes, as if she was conscious of her immense celebrity and gave us a superstar Blasée look.
Thank you to WAWG, Bait, Bernardaud and Cinabre for making it happen with style and quality, and of course, thank you to Le Louvre Museum.
