Mambo, an Ordinary Man

Tracy is a dear friend. She was able to do this film because she knows me and understands me. She wrote the story, directed the additional footage, edited the project and even gave her voice. Quite a performance! Tracy is originally a dancer and a fantastic choreographer, this is why we ended the film with a dance scene, but obviously also because Mambo is a dance in the first place. I asked to invite Sarah and Latrice to dance with me because I know them from the cabaret shows Tracy created with them and I know how they instantly shine when you put the spotlight on them. (and therefore no one will notice what a bad dancer I am) The choice of Coati Mundi from Kid Creole and the Coconuts for the music is not random: Kid Creole was one of my very first inspirations as an artist in the mid eighties, so I was extremely pleased Coati Mundi agreed to let us use his music. The film was shot in 2016/17, edit and voice over were completed in 2018, and despite my style has evolved since then, I keep showing it because no one has told my story better than Tracy so far.
