These paintings are realistic portraits I made between 2004 and 2007, based on photographs I took of friends, family, a British bulldog and my own hands.
My process was as follows: photo, line art, projection onto canvas, then painting with a print of the photo placed alongside the work. This method allows for high realistic accuracy while still leaving freedom to apply color in many different ways.
At the same time, I created a series of portraits for the French sports magazine L’Équipe, based on their photographs, which allowed me to portray some of my personal heroes, such as Thierry Henry and Diego Maradona.
